Fishing with Hubbard’s on the
Mississippi River:
What to expect on the Mississippi River during the following months at the
Lynxville Lock & Dam:
March, April, and May are the
best for the BIG ONES to be in because they are full of eggs. The weather isn’t that great, and
the walleye and sauger love that. This time of year is best for the serious
fisherperson on the Mississippi River.
In May, June, July, and August the
bluegills, bass, pike are all in. This is a great time to bring the family because
the kids will have a blast catching all those fish and also seeing the many
turtles, eagles, and other local wildlife located all around Hubbard’s
Fishing Float on the Mississippi River.
August, September are very good
for the bass and catfish along with stripers. You may catch a few walleye,
(especially at night) but the stripers are usually in thick when summer is
winding down. Still a good time for family and kids.
October and November are when the
walleye and sauger are back because the water temp of the Mississippi is cooling and the food supply
is waning. Night fishing is usually
better this time of year for those fish.
Occasionally some perch move in.
This is a good time for the serious fisherperson also.
